Why do those parasites that write the so called news make it sound as though the contractors had to scale a 10' wall? I bet he moaned like a bugger in the summer and if anything I would say it has increased his property price. Everyone knows that all trees are dangerous and can't wait to drop something on you.

I know to some people, maps are some new fangled thing. Some mystic parchment, only the learned need understand. I think it wise that that particular housing ass', ensure in future, that if a map is supplied for works, there is at least one person that can actually read said map.

On the humorous side - at least they won't get the local stay mutts peeing against their tree.

At best an accident and at worst, an incompetant spec or an incompetant tree surgeon. As already mentioned, the best thing to do is grind out stump and replace with something big. The sad thing is though, why are the council removing perfectly good trees from the adjacent land. Amenity value and all that.

Looks like I'm the only one who can empathise with the owner. If someone entered my property, in error or not, and destroyed my property, yes I'd be mad and be looking for restitution.

Barchams do some cracking big trees, a few grand a piece, plus five years of maintenance until it becomes established. That's the sort of recompense Id be looking for.

My thoughts exactly. There is nothing wrong with expecting the offending party to pay for a (as near as) like for like replacement.
