Last one of those I had the customer decided to have a go with a hand saw and the wind picked up. We got the call and I ended up using poles to set a line then sectioned it down with poles. Take your time.

I would climb the tree with a regular ladder to about two thirds of the way up, or whatever you feel is safe, with someone holding the ladder, and tie three ropes to the stem. these three ropes will act as guys while you chog out the bottom of the tree a couple of feet at at a time. There is a specific cut for this and I don't know what it is called and can't describe how to do it, so you will need to research, but it works. Have three friends hold the guy lines as the tree comes down to stop it falling.

I think it's called the Wile E Coyote cut. Looney tunes have covered this quite a few times in their instructional videos.
