lifting fence panels into concrete posts

I use some old builders tressals with 4 scaffolding planks. Set the hight on the tressals to were you want lean the panel against the tressals then just lift up and slot in. Just a bit of messing about moving the tressals but makes the job so much easier. If you get 3 tressals and 8 planks you can do 2 panels at a time then just move the one set long and so on.

good un:thumbup1: thanks

Any tips out there for lifting fence panels into concrete posts on your own? , im getting to old to lift them 5-6 ft to slot them in on my own. The obvious is get help , but that's not always an option.

I've used a shovel in my right hand to steady the top of the panel and left hand underneath the panel to lift it up to the top of the posts. Stand in the middle and gently lower evenly into the recesses. It's sounds difficult but it is the best way I know and I've done a few.

ok i have done this for years and it's all about the height!

as soon as you try to lift anything above your shoulders its going to be hard work so getting a good set of high steps ( i used a big set on combi ladders that allows me to be 10-12 foot high and i just slot them in( this is for 6 ft panels ) so what you do is set your combi ladders in place plus the panel so you just have to lift no side ways motion , climb ladder to desired height bend and hold panel using legs to lift and place panel in simples it's all about the height and using the correct muscle groups

I wonder if you could adapt a plasterboard lift, they'll easily reach that height and they pack away fairly small?

I was thinking the same thing -really useful bit of kit. I bought one off ebay to lift a canoe on top of my van - Drywall Lift | eBay multi purpose lift at low cost. Not sure if they go high enough for a 6' vertical lift panel but worth a look and maybe a mod of some kind. well within weight and allows the panel to be held and lowerd at your pace - good for misaligned post recesses.
