What was your worst punishment as a apprentice trainee ?

I did my apprenticeship in an engineering works with 200 blokes. The worst they did was locking the apprentice in the propane gas locker on the side of bt lorries. Filling the cupboard with propane gas then lighting it. I laugh now but not funny at the time. You got this punishment if you were goby. I spent many weeks not needing a shave or hair cut . They were very inventive with their ideas interested to hear other people's i will put more on later.

Filling bait box full of expanding fome was quite a funny experience.

4 pro plus, 3 laxatives and 2 viagra in a lads morning brew for turning up.hung over repeatedly when working on team piece rates worked quite effectively as a punishment ;-)

There was a particularly gobby trainee who found himself zipped up in a kit bag and placed on top shelf of the pallet racking with only head out of the bag and left there for a good while before anyone checked on him. When checking, he had somehow found a broom on the shelf, was holding it through the kit bag, had shuffled to the edge of the rack and had propped himself against the opposite rack. About 15' above ground level.....!

It didn't work!

After the installation of a 2 part foam dispensing machine for packing sensitive aviation equipment, he was boxed, packed, banded and loaded on the freight truck and send 40miles to the next depot. Caused a bit of a stir at their 'goods inward' shed.

That's all 2nd/3rd person for obvious reasons.....

That sounds like a recipe for potential disaster.....

Did he end up trying to ride the team while cacking himself and all at high energy levels??

Numerous but nothing too traumatic just the usual stuff, I once hogtied my young Groundie and took him for a off road experience while folded up in the chipper hopper, also during his first climbing attempt we tied the rope to the truck and left him up there during lunch :) he was a notoriously smelly chap so regularly hosed him down in the mornings but alas this is now severely frowned upon

Not really punishment but building site pranks.

Had an old Cortina mk4 at the time and finished work to find it missing. Just at the point of realising it must have been stolen when I saw it hanging some 100ft up by its towbar off a 50t tracked crane swinging in the wind!!

All sorts of happenings we used to get up to including locking ppl in portacabins and throwing lit diesel rags thru the windows and leaving parked cars with there rear end 3-4 ft in the air via a chain off the bucket of a swingshovel or dragging them into the thickest deepest mud on site and leaving them there upto there sills in mud.

Most you wouldn't dare attempt now with the way everything is with h and s or employers.

When we left school at 16 the initiation was to sing a solo Christmas carol to 200 blokes and all the office staff inc some nice looking girls. The company made aircraft catering trucks. So we were stood 10 ft up in the air . If you were lousy or too quiet empty bear cans would fly past your ear. The encouragement was sing sing or show your ring. I was not engaged and had no rings so thought best to sing:laugh1: glad I did when I see what happened to one lad. story for another day.

Speaking of a Kevin...

Kevin Bloody Wilson does a great song about an apprentice.

I'd post a link but have no wish to be banned so I'll leave you all to search YouTube if you wish to have a laugh.

P.S

My apprentice is due a serious punishment after losing the chipper 'en route' last Monday.

It popped off in the entrance to our yard and slid into the ditch.

He then (along with a subby old enough to be his Father) drove 30km to the job without noticing it's absence.

I was on holiday in Morocco and lucky for them no-one told me or I would have been on the next flight home to commit Jihad within the ranks.
