Mounting winches on pickups

Sort of went with this.

Got a winch, mounted it on a plate to clip onto a towball and fitted a detachable front towbar to the pickup. Now I can swap the winch between front and back of pickup and the back of the Iveco till I get the front towbar on that too, also any vehicle with a towbar.

Benefit being I just slip it off and it can't get nicked or rot in the elements, downside being I just know the day I get caught out it won't be on the right vehicle :blushing:

Is the winch on the front legal there? Can't see the plate can you with it on?

Only have to pull one pin and the whole lot comes off before driving on the public highway which obviously I always do :flute:, actually I do tend to as much for insurance purposes as anything else.

Better you cant see it, the plate is illegal anyhow:laugh1:

They've only had a mild moan twice in nearly seven years as it's only slight mis-spacing and not designed to nor does it evade ANPR. As one copper once said you never know when your going to drive past the one who wants to make a meal of it.

Regards,

Steve.

Don't care much, it was meant to be funny.

The plate on my tipper is buried under the flat to "keep it safe off road", bloody camera would need to be buried in the tarmac:laugh1:

from experience, tell your insurance company you have a winch and they seem to think you will be offroading and also makes vehicle more desirable to un desirables! But you should always infrom them!

Had a rear winch under the floor of a swb Landy exiting through rear crossmember, pulls you out of mud not into.
