Hi I've got an old stihl 038 AV super. When I was using it today it suddenly started max revving higher than normal. It did it a couple of times then ran out of juice. When I refilled it it went back to how it was before. I wondered if this means something about the carb set up. Just to add, its the first tank of fuel I've put through it since switching to stihl oil instead of some cheap stuff I got down the garage. Thanks for any advice

Same here . Best not to let it run right out . As others have said it monetarily leans out which in time could damage the piston .

Ok thanks. When it started going higher then slowed down when I filled it I started thinking maybe it's not running right most the time. I haven't really got any comparison it's pretty much the only saw I ever use

Back in the day when that was a front line machine, the "lean run" was the signal to stop now and fill it so you don't have to use the choke to re start.

 

Still do that, if the saw runs fast then check the fuel level:thumbup:

Every days a school day. I don't know how I've never noticed it do it before today. Thanks for the help everyone
