Green Party on a green surge....

Green technologies are not bodged by a bodger or handrolled on the thighs of Glastonbury hippy maidens.

Green tech requires much the same resources and juice as any other tech.

Mining, rare earth exploitation, huge transport infrastructures, oil industry...

A Toyota 'pious' may not consume alot of petrol but it sure consumes alot of resources to make.

Solar panels and all other 'Green' energy solutions all realised of the back of dirtier industries.

I have plenty of friends who fret about Green issues.

Some refuse to fly, live in self build eco houses and fret endlessly about new roads, airports, meat consumption and nuclear power but all still use the web, have normal jobs, drive cars and enjoy the benefits and facilities available thanks to dirtier technologies.

Only to be expected once they show signs of being a significant player, as UKIP have also found out in the last year or so.

I'd also expect there's a fair bit of digging going on behind the scenes in to the history of many of their candidates as we speak.

Essentially the election campaign has started.
