I'm making a very simple pine door for my shed at the moment and just wandered if you guys could recommend a decent oil/stain to finish it off?

Ideally I would like the wood to be finished so it looks a bit more like a weathered Oak look to match in with the Oak posts making up the shed.

Any recommendations would be most appreciated!

try a dozen coats of danish oil or perhaps you could buy a tin of osmo and put a couple of coats on it.

i wouldn't worry about the colour as the sun will blend them in in about 12 months.

I would use tung oil over Danish outside

Tung oil is the base for Danish oil but without the varnish in it

I have done exterior jobs in the past with Danish and the varnish causes it to flake over time where as the tung oil doesn't

If you want better levels of protection for your doors than an oil would offer try Sikens. Sadly none of the stains are very natural looking but the protection it offers is the best I have found. It came out tops in yachting mag test.

would tung or osmo oil allow the wood to darken in colour after it has been applied? i.e go grey? as this would be the look I eventually want for the door.
