First of all i have only been climbing 3 or 4 years but all that time Reg has been the guy i would look up to for tips ( even though it was through the medium of youtube :)

Yes, he is a popular guy and a lot of folks like him, so i just wanted to make this post to say Thank You Reg Coates (personally).

Don't know whether he will see this but hey.

Dont know if any one else feels the same ? not necessarily about Reg but about any one who has inspired them about tree cutting and climbing.

Thanks all

Very good of you to say that, thanks.

Ive intentionally tried to help people in the past, treework related.... and many of which could never find it in themselves to say thankyou or offer any kind of accurate acknowledgement. So to get some recognition for unintentionally helping someone goes along way, and says much about your own character for speaking up. So thanks again, and for the posts that followed.

Just remember that the videos are by no means 'how-to' tuturials or anything like. They merely reflect how Ive evolved, and the methods that Im comfortable with on a given day and set of circumstances. There are generally lots of other options to consider, and a climber should never attempt something that they not 100% certain of the outcome.

hey Reg,

Thanks for replying, i think its fair what you say about people not being that appreciative about passing on tips and hints. i mean all your trying to do is make the day a little bit easier, any way thanks again.

Best tip i have used was the old 'floating redirect' for retrieving the lowering line when it and you are miles apart. I used that 'tip' to send the top of this beech back towards the stem. it made retrieving the lowering much easier.

(have you got any more 200ft plus tree vids coming out ?):)
