Sorry I wouldn't normally pursue this but I'm a few drinks in.

 

Before I start, I'm not apologising to you but to Steve Bullman, the moderators and the members in general.

 

Are you naturally antagonistic and obtuse, in that you go out of your way to be critical and argumentative? The post I made, I think, was written to be light-hearted and jokey, but you have to to come back with the unhappy/sneaky emoticom thing.

 

I accept that your original post, from the manufacturers position, was perfectlty valid and reasonable (and I agree with you), but if you want to be arsey about a jokey comment, I can get that at home without the effort of typing.

 

 

I fully appreciate the work and time that the mods put in, and acknowledge that it's voluntary and for the benefit of forum, but do you really need to be so damn awkward?

Davie no receipt , then no guarantee that's the way of the world.

If I loose receipts then I contact the company I bought from and they send me 1 out.

I got lucky when I had a problem with mine. I sent some pictures of the problem and gave them the serial number of the boots. I didn't have the receipt but I did know that I had bought them at the previous year's APF.

This is what happened to my Airstreams when they were about 5 months old! It's like that all the way around, the entire length of the midsole.

Unimpressed.

Has anyone else had this? I wondered about a bad batch of rubber.

Skyhuck, I could see Haix point if the boots were worn out and obviously ancient but these were mint! The uppers were perfect and like new. There was no wear on the soles. I was not trying it on with them, just want boots to last a bit longer. It looks like they have sat in a store somewhere for a year as the date stamped on them was 2011 and I puchased them 2013. Stephen, I can't remember where they came from. I just googled and bought from the cheapest store. I have called around to see if I could track down the shop but no luck. I am self employed and keep all my receipts but this one has slipped through the net. Maybe burned with the box. Leason learned though!

Yes i have seen a few pairs do this on boots that were bought earlier this year.

puts me off buying a pair.

I've got a pair of old German Paraboots that the soles went like that on but the soles were very old. Looks like either UV degradation or something chemical.

It sounds like you have had a tough break, but these big companies have policies and procedures, some guy will have looked at your boots and agreed with you that they should be replaced under warranty, but he will have a check list of boxes to tick, one of those boxes will read "Copy of purchase receipt", if he can't tick that box he can't replace the boots.

The days of dealing with a "person" have gone, many business today are more like a machine, its like Little Britain "The computer says no"
