Evening all

Im a newbie so take it easy. Im after your help. Im after a budget chainsaw to help around the garden taking down a couple of conifers nothing major but who knows what the future holds. The chainsaw will be used used occasionally but certainly not everyday and not every week so i need your advice on which one to get i have the following in mind.

Husqvarna 435

Stihl ms171 (or something similar) or lastly

HUSQVARNA 135

would be great if you could give you opinion as I've used chainsaws in the best but only the crap one from B&Q.

Cheers

A husqy 135 is not a bad small saw. I have one. BUT, going by your post and forgive me if i am wrong, but i take it your a complete novice with no training or ppe. So ideally you need to factor in at least some proper ppe and possibly some sort of training.

Hi mate cheers for the reply. No I've had no training, I've used a crappy b&q petrol chainsaw for the last year serving me reasonably well. Cut down a conifer and firewood etc etc. ive got all the basic safety eqipment ie pants, gloves, helmet etc etc

Cheers again

i have a stihl 181 which I've had for years done a lot of work with it on small stuff and before i could afford a top handle used it in the tree as it's dead light

plus it can have a 16inch bar on (when i used it in the tree i had a 12 inch bar on it)

as long as your chain is sharp it will even go through 16inch oak, a bit slow but

will do it

i still use it as my other ground saw is a 391 which is a bit over kill for some jobs plus its 3-4 times heavier
