What should I pay for atic load of timber??

Hello there

I have recently bought a Palax Ergo for £6500 and have my own yard, tractors and good big ventilated shed, I am told that I ought to be able to turn a £1500 load into between £4000/£4500. I don't expect it to be that accurate or well paying, so just trying to find the average number of net bags to expect from a full load and an average ballpark selling price !! I'm in Northern Ireland !! Any help would be welcome !!

I got 100 dumpy bags out of an artic load at about £900 two years back.so at £40a bag your maths add up.

If the cords been sat in the woods a while you will ge 60 cube if it's been felled onto the lorry by some of the cord cowboys out there you might get 50. Also depends on species as well.

Had a load if beech in last week 18 inch down been sat 18 months top of the bolsters and the weight ticket was 19.5 happy days shame that the next load was a complete load of tosh.WTF puts holly in a loads at a rate of 50%

Well the last load I got 75 no 900x900 tote bags, so either my loads are a lot smaller than yours or im filling my bags far too well. I get around 25tonnes of softwood and the sawmill tells me its around 30-32 cubic metres. Am I getting done?

depends on how dry ur softwood is...........if its newly cut and the weight ticket says 25tonnes........u might get another 10-15% volume on it......29-30 cubic metres.......if its been lying for a while......maybe 32-35....really depends on the moisture content of ur wood. always get a weight ticket

Hi we fell,extract and sell timber as far as i am concerned the sooner its on a wagon and down that road to who ever is buying it the better it is for my pocket, we dont have timber lying about for monthes if its been at road side for a month its been there along time,if we are dealing with dead wood i.e some windblown which would be lighter its more per tonne as the firewood guy would have less drying time and would get a faster turn round on his money.
