Dean, you must have soem old mig welding spools lying around or know someone who does?

 

Cut the rim off one side and smooth any rough edges and then wrap the throwline onto the spool. Lie it flat and throw and it will come off the reel easy.

 

Your a genius Rupe, I just so happen to have one kicking around :001_smile:

 

Mesterh, the angle cut is because it was an offcut from a job, can't do with paying for a bit of wood.. :001_smile:

Genius is pushing it a bit! Many of us used to use mig spools before the cubes were available. If you tilt the spool towrds the tree by shoving a stick/stone under one edge then it will unwind betterer.

Does the line honestly not get tangled up in a cube?

 

They are bloody dear as well aren't they?

 

I had a system very like Deans until recently. Upgraded to a stringline spool winder from a tool shop (complete with 200' stringline!).

 

How do you pack line back into a cube?

honestly, you just flake it into the cube
