This was a job for a member of the public – just topping and siding a conifer hedge. It took longer pulling the brash out that the previous guy had stuffed down inside!

 

Apparently the ‘gentleman’ is now in jail – he would ask to use the customers loo and while inside help himself to anything valuable!

 

This was a company who leafleted the local estates touting for business – The effort he must have taken in pushing that brash down! Would have been far easier just to stack it in a trailer.

 

Anyone else come across this kind of shoddy work…?

I honestly wouldn't no anything about stuffing brash back down leylandii hedges

 

Seriously though I agree with what you say - takes more time than doing it properly - poorly pruned leylandii can be very frustrating..!

I always have a clamber inside before quoting if it's a biggish job. Been caught out like that before. Bet they were dusty chipping John!

Had exactly the same happen to me a while back. The piece of hedge i looked in when i priced it must have been the only bit out of 200meters without any in it:scared1:

 

As it happened, it worked well for walking through as it was like a pathway and was strong enough to stand on.

 

All the previous guys brash was left where it was, as in the quote it clearly said "Reduction of conifer and removal of waste from this reduction":sneaky2:

Anybody that does that sort of thing cant take any pride in there work.

 

I dont no what height it was reduced to before but im sure the people would have been able to see from that window what had gone on?

nightmare john, its when it has been mashed down and in there for years and it has composted. worms and bugs. i had to ladder onto a hedge from the outside because it was so jammed up. i usually find old bow saws and b+q loppers aswell.

Started a reduction on a conifer hedge today, back tommorrow aswell to finish and do some other work but this hedge was full of rubbish to. Its a regular thing down this way mate

Come across this many times and as you say it must surely be harded to stuff down into the top of the hedge than take away!
