if you search for " husqvarna 550" (you'll prob need to put it in quotes to be more specific) you'll find ALOT written about 'em! personally not had alot to do with them, but they are light and pokey

My 2014 is going great so far. I've heard about earlier model problems with brake bands, brake handles and hot starting but I've not experienced any of these with mine so far.

Weve had one for a year or so, Its had a brake band go and a bolt came out the exhaust other than that it's been faultless.

 

There's allways a battle for the husky ground saws up our yard, he who arrives late gets the stihl's.

Don't do it , buy something else . Cracking saws when working but if you want some thing that starts first time this aint it , goes for 560 and 540 too .

 

 

Totally agree. Lovely to use - when not in the workshop!!

used an older 550xp and it was a roight PITA with hot starting issues and initial pick up off idle was dreadful. used a newer 550 and 560 model and they were most excellent. Having said that they were not my own saws and i used them over a few 10 hour shifts so i cannot comment on long term ownership.
