I looked into swapping to Aspen due to all this chat about stale fuel etc etc. It was soon knocked on the head when I looked at cost of Aspen, at a difference of around £3 per litre and using around 30 litres a week (sometimes a lot more) across two saws it's cheaper to use petrol and then if experience saw issues just buy a new saw.

Edit: I have signed the fuel duty petition

With all the talk about stale fuel, and various comments about only using fresh fuel, who's to say how long the petrol has been in the petrol station tanks before we pick it up?

Also, how rigorous are their quality controls at all points between leaving the refinery and going into your can? Are there any tests or control measures? What chances of contaminants getting into the systems and storage tanks??

Just curious as know nothing about the fuel supply line.

HI PETE there and clean are the tanks at the fuel station as i picked up some dev other day for my old land rover it hated it thanks jon

Have you tried servicing it every now and again.:001_tt2:

I don't get this crap fuel thing. I fill up anywhere and everywhere. Only had a fuel related problem with one vehicle (Vauxhall combo) saying that it had done over 300k miles.

There are many factprs that influence the degradation of fuel.

The primary one is exposure to oxgen (oxidation)

Obviously sealed containers, especially when full, keep this oxidation to a minimum.

Exposure to heat also encourages degradation, even without oxygen. So a steel jerry can stored in the open or near a window will degrade faster than one under the bench.

Exposure to moisture also degrades fuel, but like oxygen, a sealed container will minimise this.

Garage tanks are vented so oxidation and moisture can pay a part.

Other chemical reactions also take place within fuel, from the day it is made. This is why the petrol held in distribution tanks is sold off cheaper to supermarkets as it approaches its sell by date.

Hence avoid supermarket fuel .

Hi,

Talk to your local dealer they may give you a discount for bulk buys and you can get it delivered at no extra charge.

Please also take into account the cost of 2stroke which is already in our Aspen2 and the time saved as the fuel is ready to go. Plus the lower chance of breakdowns.

See our website for Pro User of the month and why they have switched to Aspen.
