I am a great hater of the "banana" cuts that were mentioned earlier....i always keep my bar rails filed correctly....but has anyone got any advice for easier ways to keep the flat file level when filing along the top of the rail (i use an engineer's square) but it gets a bit tedious on a long bar that has sloping rails

i've used one of those, i believe roller has one....definetly a good tool, keep meaning to get one myself.

I never use a guide on chain or bar and always get comments on how well my saws cut. I clean my bars with an angle grinder with an abbrasive pad on. Even my 341 on 3/8 chain steve!

when dressing bars they arehardened by heat and blunt files try a carbarundum stone to at least break through the outside layer but dont use your nice one get a cheap one as it wears grooves in big time

Ask your saw dealer if you can some old disc's from chain grinders,they are great instead of a file for bar dressing :wave:
