Hmm.. OK, I signed this last night but made a mental note to look up some info about Change.org..

Im thinking it might not be best place to have this petition as also mentioned by another on here. There is an official channel for these things at - HM Government e-petitions

Also did a little reading up - Change.org Reviews - Consumer Reviews of Change.org | SiteJabber

Since signing up last night I have already had two emails from them regarding other petitions, so had to unsubscribe from those. I also didnt like it asking me for money afterwards to "boost the campaign".

Just doesnt seem the correct platform to me.

IMO someone should setup a new petition via the link i posted above, yes it will need 100k of votes to get a chance of being discussed in the commons but i feel it would stand more chance of working that way.

Once its setup maybe Steve could spam all the Arbtalk members with a PM and a link to the petition? Get other forums to do the same...?

We use Aspen in everything from the '88 to the blower, be great to cut the cost even a little.

Just my 2cents..

That's an excellent idea. :thumbup1::thumbup1:

I have just come back in and read the last few pages with interest.

I am very pleased to see the positive comments on Aspen from users as well as potential users.

I agree that this petition with Change.org may have been the wrong one for Axel to start, but I guess he had his reasons.

The government petition does seem a bit more official, but it needs 100,000 signatures within 12 months. Whether the change.org one is correct or not, it has only had just over 500 in 6 months.

So its just not going to happen is it?

But that does not detract from any of the advantages of Aspen, it just means that it won't be a bit cheaper.

If its cost that prevents some people from using Aspen then I suspect they would not use it even at £16.00 per 5 litres.

Lets keep the signatures coming on this petition though, it may still be of some use to those who are lobbying the government.

But do not, under any circumstances, feel obliged to donate any money to change.org.

If you really feel the need to donate money I will be pleased to PM my bank details.

Humble pie well and truly eaten:001_rolleyes:

I've been on the cider all day, can I be forgiven?

Hmm... 50 press ups now, sign the petition 10 times, gargle Aspen whilst repeating the mantra ( I shall use Aspen exclusively from now on), & to a man we will forgive.

But we need a video as proof!

Oh, & you have to use it in your scooter for a month as well!

I believe you're right. Unless it is clearly shown that people are dying (rather than getting a few headaches) this will be a low priority.

People have been using chainsaws a long time, I've yet to see evidence of industrial illness resulting from fumes.

Possibly no evidence specifically of chainsaw fumes, but the health effects of Benzene are well documented:

Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzene#Health_effects

World Heath Organisation: http://www.who.int/ipcs/features/benzene.pdf

Cancer.org: Benzene

EPA: Benzene | Technology Transfer Network Air Toxics Web site | US EPA

HSE: http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg329.pdf

UK Government publications: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/benzene-general-information-incident-management-and-toxicology

How much more evidence do you need :confused1:

There is plenty of documented evidence on the effects of benzene and sulphur from petrol.

It was this evidence which has lead to the introduction of the vapour recovery fuel pumps which we all now use at filling stations, and to the development of Catalytic converters on cars.

I am not going to bother to post links as it is all easily found through google but results in incredibly boring reading.
