Hi there.

I'm looking into selling logs further afield so was checking out prices of transport. So far the cheapest I've seen is sound £55 for a pallet with isn't justifiable. Does anybody know of cheaper companies if they exist.

Thanks x

Pallets prices will vary depending where you send them to.

Local to us about £40 a pallet, but Highlands is about £100 pallet.

We use palletways network and generally it goes smoothly.

I had a machine delivered on a pallet to me a month or so back, cost was £35 (+vat of course!), and I doubt the seller was taking a hit on that!

We use our local Palletways agent for the majority of items because the price is great. We use an alternative local company who are agents for Palletline when we send higher value stuff that needs handling a little more carefully.

Palletways are fast, reliable and very helpful. They will work you out a very good volume price if you can shift enough pallets. Plus they do a very good half pallet and Euro pallet rate.

Palletline are probably not going to be competative for timber deliveries unless your local agent wants to get on board with a low price hoping for your sales to take off in future. They photograph every pallet as it enters and leaves a depot, plus provide more flexible insurance options for high value goods. But that all puts the price up.

Do not opt for next day delivery ( esp AM ) if you want a cheap deal ... 48hr delivery is a bit cheaper , I have done a lot of work for the FORTEC pallet network , all companies are very competitive !!
