Going to play devils advocate for a second :001_tongue:

 

Whoever made it has probably been paid less than half that. Drying wood in the round is problematic and I suspect ends with a lot of rejects. Getting the bark so cleanly off and sanding all down is not a five minute job. Wood is cheap but not free. Shipping lumps like that around will cost a bit as well. I have seen some of the discussions on here as to how much to charge for tree work and suspect you are in the right job :biggrin:
