I went to a woodland craft fair not too long ago. Willow trunk with 6 holes in it for wine bottles £650.

Whoever made it has probably been paid less than half that. Drying wood in the round is problematic and I suspect ends with a lot of rejects. Getting the bark so cleanly off and sanding all down is not a five minute job. Wood is cheap but not free. Shipping lumps like that around will cost a bit as well. I have seen some of the discussions on here as to how much to charge for tree work and suspect you are in the right job

Blimey! That's a bit steep even if its not a 5 minute job. Also shipping on that isn't free as it costs less than £200, so postage is extra!

 

Surely to be a chair it needs a back too - unless it's just the essence of a chair as well!
