hazards of working near a peat bog

I may have a job coming up where heavy machinery will be working on the edge of a peat bog.

Has anyone had a good or bad experience working near/in a peat bog? hints and tips are greatly appreciated , Thanks

You have to walk with a 12ft stick carried vertically, then when you sink people will know where to put flowers as the top has a chance of poking out ..maybe

There's plenty of machines disappeared forever in the bogs up here.

guy I know who works cutting peat has trebles fitted to his tractor, id say if you are on peat finding ways to spread the weight are going to be the key issues
