ms 66

Bought new ms66 about 2 months ago aprx fom reputable dealer dowm south.

 

It has onyl been used couple times sonce then and the chainbrake doesn't work...i needs a good hard wack to go one. Also the rear handle is coming apart. I am starting to think this saw is a chinese fake.

 

anyone else had probs with ms66?

I've got a ms65 with the same brake problem. After very little use the brake stopped coming on/off easily - there appears to be wear in the brake handle. I packed out the hole that carries the piece of metal that actuates the brake mechanism with a couple of matchsticks (yeeha I know...) and it works now. I've bought a new brake handle, but not got around to fitting it as the bodge is working fine...

if its only two months old, get it fixed on warranty....

 

 

 

you would know with a quick glance at a 100yards whether it was a fake or not...

 

there are exact chi-com replicas of the stihl 038 and 070, other than that they look like fisher-price saws that someone has gone to town on with a shoddily made stihl stencil and a can of orange paint.

I had the same problem with a 660. Changed the brake handle and it works ok now, untill the exhaust gets hot the same again.

if its new is it an ms660 ??? only asking because i have heard of alot of fakes being sold at the moment and they are labeled as a stihl 66 0r ms66

I assume you mean a MS660 if it is a ms66 then I doubt it is a stihl.

 

The 066 had probs with the chainbrake being a bit poor, no doubt stihl passed this on to the 660

Looks horribly like those fake 395s - just white and orange...
