"Finn Cut"

Here is a Video of another method of "Bore and release".

 

You can cut several "Finns" on a large Tree,I can make a vid of this techinque next week when we move into some bigger timber.

I've heard a similar cut referred to as a "dog tooth cut", but not seen it cut using a bore cut.

 

Nice to one to know when for when we fear the risk of the barbers chair.

Nice one. I like the bit you mentioned right at the end, about the sloping cut stopping any split turning into a barber chair.

 

On leaning trees that size, I'll often do that Swedish vcut described here

 

I don't know if it's strictly NPTC, but it seems to work. I don't know if it works on bigger stuff..:confused1:..I normally go back to a standard dog tooth cut if there's plenty of room to bore in.

I was shown that i believe at college, but its not part of the NPTC as far as i know.
