So much depends on the market and the competition, I can clearly see the difference there must be across the country.

I have been told quite a few times that I hadnt been the cheapest but they "didnt like the look of the other guy"

I have also been told that "whoever is the cheapest will be doing the job"

Here their is alot of competition, some very good firms but most very poor and not pro at all:thumbdown:.

I obviously fall into the latter category :001_smile:

Have many of you been called out to finish what someone has started and couldnt handle?? I have and it gives me soo much pleasure and pride to be able to make the job look simple through knowledge and experience, gaining a very good reputation. In any trade, reputation is everything. "Perception is reality". So what customers / clients percieve you as, is what they believe you are. I pride myself as being percieved to be honest, well spoken, knowledgable, experienced, reasonably priced, etc, etc. I have had fair few customers remark over the quality of work produced and the fact there will always be work for "people like me". Are they right?? Only time will tell.

well it's well hidden, or i'm looking in the wrong places, all the firms round here have very little work ... or so they say

if you want it badly you will find it, i have been out of my parents house since i was 19, i didnt have an option of not paying bills or wanting big wages, just loads of hrs doing crappy jobs in the hope that one day i would get the chance to do this job, it took me 3 years of shovelling coal, digging gardens, peeling tatties in a chip shop to save up enough money to buy a harness and ropes, then another year to buy a saw. once you have been in the crap you dont want to go back in it, i put myself in it so i had to get myself out of it. too much negativty and focus on doom and gloom. i could be out working today rather than sitting infront of the laptop, but i am not, its my choice but i didnt have a day off for 10 years unless it was for a weeks holiday in summer . good luck doesnt fall on your lap, you make it, it takes focus and determination. unfortunately some people do get dealt a right crap set of cards in this life, and i cant do anything about that. but if you are fit and healthy then there is no reason anyone should be out of work, it just depends on what you want to do and for how much for:001_smile:
