Pricing hedges

Howdy folks

Not that I really want to do more hedge trimming, but work is work, so my question is do you have a "hedge cutting/trimming" rate and a "tree surgery" rate? Or do your clients pay arborist rates whatever the job.

Me, well in the past I've always stuck to my guns and charged the same rate no matter what the work, but lately seen some realy nice hedges that would be a joy to do and could lead on to further work.

I always charge a lower rate for hedge trimming. I know its still a skillful and demanding job to do it right but imo its nowhere near as dangerous.

I also always have a reduced rate for hedges usually -20% or so but less if there is a bit of chainsaw work

Hourly rate for me. Whatever I'm doing I just do the same rate. Its easier to underprice a conifer hedge job than any other in my opinion.

I charge the same rate as standard tree work, all my bills cost the same no matter what I do.

 

On nasty hedges I charge a bit more

i, charge the same as tree work as theres more crap with hedging work & and if you charge less you need to do an extra job to meet your earning targets
