yeah i hope to get loads of pictures , im hoping the local news will be there as the owner has contacted them as the tree was apparently one of the bigges montereys in the country or europe , but im not sure , this time next week i will have been to the arb show and the pine will be one of the oldest smallest trees lol

If your not stump grinding and are using a crane, whats all the top soil for??

just get in a mulcher, we did a wellingtonia stump that was about 40 feet around the base, i left it at about 4 feet, the big fendt did it in about 5 mins, like cutting butter:001_smile:

well i will be doing half of it without a crane as it all leans in the right direction . will use a crane for the more awkward bits and shiftim the timber to one area as we only have 3-4 days to get it down and gon before the camp site re-opens

get in an artic load of tyres and just fell it mate, then dress up any bumps in the grass.

i wish shrek , the thought of using the 880 up in the tree for the best part of the day does not really get my juices flowing !!! but hey better than stum grinding all day !!

it is a great oppertunity to get a chance to work on a tree of that size, you will be a better climber/cutter by the time it is done mate. trees like that make you what you are.
