Guess what - fiscally it was a mad decision; a lot of running around but each was worth around £300 I was told. Could have been a million quid per scamera for all I care - wouldn't do it in a million years. I would have every sympathy with someone pointing an RPG at me and sending me to kingdom come. Nor would I want to be "the tree company that promotes stealth taxes". No way.

What I can't get my head round is how do cameras promote stealth tax ??

You speed you pay, simples :001_smile:

IMO stopping people speeding stops innocent people being killed, it's always the innocent person coming the other way that cops for it.

People always whinge about how they got done for speeding and how it is so wrong for cops to be hidden or cameras to be hidden, they only think of themselves not other road users or pedestrians. :001_smile:

...and yes, I've sped, if I get caught the last thing I'll blame is the speed camera :confused1:

I am clearly not the most rules and regulations orientated person on here! I've had one of the most complex and involved speeding offence cases in court history. The upshot of this experience was that I've never broken the speed limit since BUT still don't agree with the way the system is designed and manipulated. The AA and RAC don't agree with it either. Oh, and if I could donate to MAD - the group who used to go round burning gatsos etc, I would.

Did I mention speed traps in the Pet Hate thread ?!!

I would have done it just for the money.

Dont agree with speed cameras that are placed 'just' just to make revenue, which lets face it most of them are.

There fine in a built up area or outside a school etc but not when they are sneakily placed on open dual carriageways etc. :sneaky2:

Besides I dont agree that its purely the speeding that kills, it's people either not driving correctly or pedestrians crossing the road without looking.
