I have an MSR whisperlite, twenty years old and doing fine. Bought new pump for it this year though.

 

I run it on unleaded straight out of the pump or from the stump grinder fuel can!

 

Trangia are one of my favourite all round stoves cos of there practicality but they are a bit too slow to use at work. I have one that is at least 25years old, I bought it with my hard saved pocket money when I was about 14, I love it! The new ones use much thinner aluminium and seem crap although I'm sure they do the same job.

For quick brews at work, I just use an MSR pocket rocket and mini gas cylinder and little trangia kettle, or even better get a GSI espresso maker

You already have a trangia stove which is good for cooking with a pocket rocket and mini gas catridge will take up less space than a multi fuel stove or jet boil.

Yeah I can vouch for the MSR Pocket Rocket - for £30ish it's a belter - roars too!

The trangia is a great peice of kit, I've had mine for over 15 years, but the meths burner is slow. I tried using it to melt snow up a mountain in NZ once and was VERY hungry. The gas adapter is OK but then you need gas canasters.

 

I got the Optimus Nova, A multi fuel stove. Quick priming, lightweight and fully adjustable flame. Capable of burning diesel, parrafin, white gas, petrol and Coleman fuel.

 

You can (could 7 years ago) get an adapter No 9100, which means you can fit it to the trangia, although to be honest I got some different pots.

True but in the field i want a shot of real coffee, instant is a sin!!

MSR sounds like the one.It would be nice to be able to run it on Meths as the Triangia runs meths as well.I am sick of sleeping with gas cans at the foot of my sleeping bag.If you leave them out in the cold they run like crap.

For fuel economy they are hard to beat. I want one of those jetboil things but I know I'll get bored of buying gas cans. I've always got petrol around!!
