Although the waranty is good, for the consumer, I think their provision of it is going to bite them in the ass. They've used it to promote their confidence in the product but can you imagine the returns in the future.

 

Simple metal fatigue with daily use, has to become a factor over time so IMO a lot of these will fail within the warrenty period. Good for the user, but bad for the company when every problem gets highlighted on threads like these.

 

Be that as it may they kind of had to extend the warranty on these units because the only alternative would have been a second recall, which would have been a catastrophe.

 

Extended warranty bad, recall worse.

Mine cracked today. Switching back to prussic was hard work. Looking forward to receiving my replacement

 

Went to take pictures to send to Petzl and a second crack had developed.

Are those two cracks you can see in the picture? In places other than those indicated in petzl's investigation? If so I wonder what their investigation consisted of...

You have to wonder about the astronomically low failure rate that Petzl cited in the recent press release

Well new zig zag lasted a couple weeks, crack developed yesterday.
