Snap-on original top is beech and costs about £350 from them.. Really nice to work on, wouldn't go back to plain old rubber. Fair play for attempting to make it, make sure you show some pics when you're done.

I might was just asking for advice and thoughts, don't want to get the original snap on one as I will be buying the riser for next year and the wood will be removed or cut to suit the top part.

Once you've bought the wood, machined, glued and then cleaned it up I bet you wouldn't be far off £350 worth of material and time....

 

what tosh, materials about £70-£80 and making it would be about the same so no more than £160 tops.
