I had a call today from someone claiming I could be owed money by the government due to working in a noisy industry. I told her to get a real job and hung up so didn't really get the entire gist of what she was trying to tell me. Surely this is just a scam though and not something thats actually happening?

i had the same pita phone call yesterday. unfortunately i too was to slow in saying pardon. pissed off with the interuption for a piss take with the call centre.

i will when they phone next time!

i keep getting you can write off 70% of any debts you have please press one i hang up. tv programme on last night channel 4 re these call centres ringing asking for donations for charitys. and the tactics they use to get you to give over your money by a d/d and there making on it big time.

have never rang one of the numbers. i have my charitys and if i want to give i give direct not using one of these phone numbers on the adverts.

all that does is put you on there phone list to hassel you for more of your cash for different charitys.

and its a legal scam.:thumbdown:

The ones we get now are recycling kitchens or telling me I "may" qualify for a free boiler. They use a recorded message so as soon as I hear it click in I hang up.

When I get. A cold caller I play the sex pest with them, ask the caller what they are wearing, then ask them to take it off, it puts them off their game.:laugh1::laugh1::laugh1:

They don't call back much.

I had someone call me the other week trying to persuade me I was due a 'considerable amount' in compensation for a crash I had a few years ago. Oddly I've never had, or been involved in a car accident. Those companies are total wasters...

I think it must have been me you hit as I had the same call and no recollection of any such accident!

When I receive calls like this I add them to my blocked call list and update it on my land line about every Two weeks. This helps a lot and the calls hardly come in at all any more. I also do the same with my junk email filter and key words. When certain key words are entered in the subject matter right in the trash!, I have other plans for the authors in time!.

The time to worry is when they do. :scared1:
