Newer 1s don't look nearly as tinny as the 1 I used 10years ago, hopper looks better designed and frame is definitely bigger section, good occasional use machine but no was a comershal fuel chip production machine as the are said to be.

Has anyone got any more thoughts on PTO chippers?

 

We are a farm that does a healthy sideline in tree surgeon/green waste processing. We now need our own chipper and have a number of tractors that we can hook it up to - plenty of horse power.

 

So what should I be considering? Probably going to APF, what should I have a look at there?

Heizo is probably best for processing arb waste, its about the cheapest of the big biomass brands, but cheap is a relative term. I just bought one, it was £44k....

We bought a green mech 220 for less than your budget and it is excellent.

We run it off a mog. We're well happy with it.

You can't really process arb waste with a 220, I had one for a while, its a decent chipper, but the infeed is about 8x10 inches, my heizo is 16x27 inches. I would say for a cheap chipper with a big indeed one of the morbark drum machines would be the way to go. Not the same chip quality as the heizo but a decent infeed.

I think he may be wanting to chip brash, I presume he wants the fire wood.

You won't go wrong with a TP chipper easy to maintain and a good strong chipper and does produce some nice chip
