open the gate with the back of your thumb, then grab the ring of the strop with your remaining fingers and extract. Its tricky to explain without having one attached to me, but hopefully that helps?

 

Its not the strop ring I have trouble with, its the 2nd "clip" on the ass end of the saw that has me puzzled:confused1:

Cut the gate out. the ridge at the bottom that the gate sits in stops the saw falling off. Been climbing like this since I got the saw and it's a breath of fresh air ! Easy to grab one handed and to put it back in a hurry.
