I doubt that! what was your wage for the day, did you employ anyone else? Your running costs aren't just your fuel for the day. Want to know what your running costs really are? Go through your bank statements for the year and add up everything you have spent, I mean everything, then add your own wage, you now have a number, probably more than 50k unless you are part time. Now you need to know how many days you actually work (productive work that is, not pricing or maintenance) , chances are its 9 days in 10 or maybe even less.

So out of 261 working days in the year you might work 230 if you are doing well, so divide your total costs by 230 and for £50k that equals around £220 a day......

So your £120 day out just cost you £100...

I couldnt give a flying wotsit what everyone else charges, the young guns working for peanuts cant compete in my leugue, my clients value me above and beyond scrappers, I pretty much choose my clients, not the other way round.

If you wanna knock your pipes out for peanuts thats your "manifestation"

Completely agree.

A job is only worth what the customer is willing to pay for it.

Get several quotes from any other trade for the same job & they will differ greatly, so why should our industry be any different.

So how long do you stay at sub £400 a day for ? Your on a looser there as inflation goes up housing rent etc also all your suppliers prices move upwards and are not static.

Would the threat of having to register for vat stop you archiving a good turnover and profit? £81 k is not a great turnover for a 3 man team .

but £81k isnt bad for a 2,man team, working on trees 3,days a wk . with low over heads & that dosnt mean having to cut corners eaither :001_smile:

What we could do with is some sort of internet forum for people to discuss what they should charge to avoid undercutting.

What sort of saddo's would use that?:)

Hmmmm, the willing concept.

We'd be willing to pay the top price.... but can we afford to pay top price? I doubt it very much!

How's about: "A job is only worth what the customer can afford to pay".

And thus makes me wonder if posh people and corporate clients get quoted more than those with little income??....

Yes indeed. I've noticed a few of those types during my stay here on Planet a Earth. Not kept in touch with them :001_smile:
