When I looked at making pellets maybe 8 years ago the UK and European production capacity was 30% higher than demand. To make pellets work you really need a CHP plant to burn your excess along the lines of the Balcas set up in Ireland.

A

Just looking to resell the pellets.. Not make them!

I cannot but agree with the suggestion/idea of simply importing ready to sell and burn firewood from the old Eastern bloc.

More trees.

Cheaper labour.

less regulations=more effective and efficient machinery.

Just need a truely industrail set up feeding it by the railway wagon/bulker truck to the docks, to be bulk handled the same as coal.

Surely this bizz model makes more sense than UK based red tape smothered production.

One of the problems I noted with kiln drying was the unrealistic fuel consumption of the boiler quoted by the companies who could supply them. All three I spoke to quoted fuel consumption way lower than was physically possible i.e. less enegy was going in per week than was quoted as coming out. And by a long way.

What figures were they using?

Our dryer aimed to move 1 litre of moisture out of the wood for an input of 4MJ of fuel. We estimated with further capital expense it could get as low as 1.5MJ.

There was also a trade off with heat energy (cheap) and fan power for circulation (expensive electricity).

The only problem is selling the product... And that is where 20 years of sales and marketing comes in!

Finally someone with a more positive attitude.... Let me have a contact no for a chat.

20 years sales & marketing experience but you can't internet search for Kilworth machinery to get the number for yourself?

There's a guy down west cornwall with big smoke / city experience; call it sales and marketing if you like. Gift of the Gab aka bullshit.
