Zigzag help?

Ok so I treated myself to a zz at the arbshow. Had my first play around today and so far so good. But, when ascending I'd like to get the zz further away from me so that I can advance more in one pull. I know the lady on the petzl stand said this was a common place thing to do. My question is what have people found is the best way to achieve this. My first thoughts are a soft link sling/strop. Any suggestions?

Just a soft sling girth hitched onto a crab to stop cross loading on your bridge and just long anough so you can reach the zz if you need to decend, good tip is to make sure you have a branch or fork to stand on when you reach your ankle point as you'll have to strop in to undo the sling and put the zz back in close.

Yeah I think that's what I had in mind. Working from bridge upwards - sling hitched directly on to d ring, to carabiner, to connection point on zz. That what you mean?

I had also thought of maybe using the soft link from a rock climbing quick draw with a carabiner&swivel to connect to harness. But then you have a swivel at both ends so not sure this would work, too much swivel!!!

Cheers for the feedback guys. Think a sling is the way to go. Although I'm sure I could get used to it, I was hoping that the ZZ would make life easier on my wrists and the idea of pulling with just one arm isnt that appealing. Itching for a big job now so I can have a good session with it. Seems a bit OTT for the apple tree I have for tomorrow!
