what machine do I need?

I've got a job coming up in a back garden where the slope down into the garden is about 1 in 3, and about 20m long.

 

I need something that will grab the branches and wood from the monstrous conifer at the bottom of the garden, and run it up to the top.

 

I can get something bigger than an Avant in there, but not sure whether to go 4x4 wheels or tracks, especially if it starts to rain?

 

Any advice appreciated.

Nice idea but the chips have to be removed, so better to get the branches out to the chipper.

tractor mounted winch,make a big pile of brash and drag it up in a onner,can get timber up too.might destroy the lawn but its a good time of year for grasseeding!

A portable cabstan winch may be an idea? I think jonsie sells them.

I did wonder about this, but it has to go up hill not down, so would need a winch or something to haul the loads up, could be a bit to complicated.??

The ground is a soil slope, although the surface is getting quite hard now it has dried up, so a chunky grip like tractor tread would be better than turf tyres.

 

I'm going to see if the hire company has something like an avant but bigger.

last time I had an Avant on a slope, it wouldn't get back up with a load on.

Hiab them out in big bundles, you just need a 40 ft Hiab and a long rope, chain, lift it straight up and the branches will come right in, no need to boom in or out.

Or Tracked chipper, chip into bulk bags and drab out with chipper, best get a safetrak as they have loads of grunt and brilliant clearance.

Or take a digger down, dig a big hole and bury the branches and dress off with all your spare soil.

Or just drag them out, get your head down and blitz if, coffee and cakes for good boys who don't complain about it.

Digger with grab, pass it out in a few passes.
