I built a log splitter last summer and decided to buy a launtop 10hp diesel engine to run it. Everything has been fine until today. I was in the middle of splitting some beech when the engine seized solid. I New there was oil in it as I checked before starting. Decided to strip it down as was surprised to find the piston had disintegrated.KINDLE_CAMERA_1401570391000.jpg.ad6889b4fe1be72f1e0d386f6a818be9.jpg

Any ideas what could of caused this? The engine is completely done as the rod that is attached to piston is cracked as are two of the gears.

Try contacting manufacturer....( not supplier , although they may help)

They won't want failures like this .... And failure feedback helps them ...

You might find them more helpful than you expect .....

good luck with that one....if it was a proper engine maybe.

Talked to guy who bought chinese tractor at half price of massey

Said dealer in essex was total wa***r

Contacted chinese manufacturer, spares in his hand in three days

He had nothing but praise for them

One of problems is importers buy on price

Then provide no back up

Used to be inundated with guys bringing in chinese motorbikes, they hadn't got a clue what they were doing ......when they had container of bikes they couldn't shift, support was first thing out of the window.....
