I know of a guy who fell backward and pulled a "Little David" grinder onto his legs, he removed 2" of shin bone from just below his knee.

 

He missed the artery by millimeters and was saved by his saw pants that where ripped off and rapped around the cutter wheel staling the engine.

 

He had to spend 4 months in a wheel chair, while the bone grew back.

 

I had a "Little David" grinder, but I moved the handle to the other end, to make it safer.

A little david smashed a guy i know in the jaw/mouth years ago, Luckily it was only a bust lip and some pretty bad bruising, Gotta be careful using them!!

 

 

 

 

Although im sure plenty of people do use them without incident!!

Yeah I've seen those one's and think it is one silly/dangerous design!

i heard through the grapevine that a guy did some serious damage to himself, i am not sure it was with a little david, but the jaw remark just made me wonder.

When i bought a new little david i had a few near misses with kick back to the jaw, on the first few stumps.Since then i have ground hundreds of stumps with it and never had as much as a scratch even from flying debris. A little david with the gaurd on is fairly restricted to what it can do. However if you remove the gaurd and are determined or daft enough then you can get the little david to grind any stump any where, even where mountain goats would struggle to walk. BUT ALWAYS keep your wits about you and watch your toes all the time kos you wont get a second chance with it.
