As in a recent post, teak oil isn't an oil but a wiping varnish. Teak is an oily wood ie it gives out oil. This can cause bubbling in varnishes, where the oil comes out under the varnish. I would either use a genuine oil like BLO or Tung or I'd seal it with shellac first then varnish/varnish oil mix.

Isn't Danish oil a wiping varnish to??

What about a Marine spar varnish? I think it is made from Tung oil and resin. Used to use it on Teak deck restorations when I worked in the marine industry. Come is various sheens fro 15% (matt) to 90% (high gloss) so plenty to choose from.

I have used Liberon finishing oil on both Antique Oak and a beech block work surface.

It is a wiping oil that dries and goes hard. The first coat seals and subsequent coats seal some more and will eventually after 5 or more, give a high gloss finish if required.

I have found it easy to use and dries within a few hours and goes hard overnight.

I used it on a Oak Longcase clock and it really worked well giving a semi gloss sheen and bringing out the grain well. You also use a lot less than you may imagine so the litre I purchased will last for years!

Hope this helps:thumbup:
