Fanatastic example of how Veteran fearures such as decay pockets, cavities etc make great niche habitat......is there any scope to retain this specimen in some form as a habitat tree?

The tree is a kind of retention, its getting boshed off just above that cavity as a habitat pole but its going to have to wait till the residents have moved on.

I was going to ask about that - excellent news as there is a real shortage of good habitat for owls nests.

Was working clearing a glade this week in preparation for an ecopod to go in there. Amongst bits the client wanted out were 2 trunks which looked like classic Owl habitat. So checked both and one was clear although had signs of activity and in the other....

Have suggested that we now leave them as standing monoliths which we are:thumbup:
