Tsk, tsk Agrimog

A young-un like mesel ud need that in millimeters.

so, to pick a lower end and easily divisible figure, say 0.0160" *25.4mm = 1.60/4= 0.4mm of a rise in the middle, should mean if the straight edge is pressed firmly down on one side of the crown, light should be discernable coming through the nom. 1.0mm gap on the other side.

Anyways the straight edge could definately be made to roll/rock over the crown.

If there was one.

thanks,

Marcus

hi guys how much do you think i should offer the scrap man do you think i shuold start at scrap price i have no idea how much a saw that looks like the one pictured should be worth looking forward to your thaughts

cheers mark

I would start at scrap price, plus pay him to deliver it. That way he's better off than having to cover his time and diesel to take it away, and it doesn't cost you more than it would anyway.

I paid £1800 for the mill,

18 bands (three are rusty)

sawdust blast

110kva diesel generator 180hp with less than 2000 hours on the clock

all wiring and starter/control boxes

spare motors

Down sides

around 90 miles away on the side of a hill (took 5 hours in the tractor each way), the estate wanted the buildings left in a usable state, had to cut the generator out, there was no lorry access, its only 16ft cut, took two folk two very long days

so i reckon if you could get it for a tad above scrap value delivered its a good deal. an average stenner prob weighs 4 tons or more with log decks so the scrappy will want £240 per ton plus the motor value, so around £1000 delivered on the basis it requires work would be fair? my thoughts only:001_rolleyes:

let us know how you get on anyways, you could get it for less

apologies there Difflock, that used to still working in old school, forgot that most "young 'uns" dont know what thous are, I still use rods, poles, and chains, just to piss of the young trainees I have working with me sometimes( yes I can be a crabbit old bugger some times) , a quick conversion for metric/imperial estimates is 1mm=0.040", close enough for quick stuff, Graham thats a nice haul you've got there, that genset is worth more than what you payed for the whole package, where you going to set it up, would be nice to see it running and cutting, how about mounting it on a chassis and having the ultimate mobile bandmill...lol

Is that a truck engine on the generator, with a radiator off to the right? Looks like a beast!

  • 7 months later...

slowly getting there! going to lower the bench by around six inch and extend the table by 10ft then build in log turners so one person can handle large logs and most importantly cut 26'.

it was starting to look like my fathers stenner, sitting under a tarp in the rain never to work again so about a month ago i decided its going together, start digging! lol
