Ended up with mce insurance, 360quid for 15months cover (special offer). Nfu and Cornish mutual wouldn't quote unless I was an existing policy holder. Trust couldn't help but In fact suggested mce. Tried falcon and lexham plus some others but they either couldn't quote or came in at silly money.

Funny old game insurance, not overly impressed with having to pay 360quid but was running out of time and patience so it'll do.

Ive had a 58 plate Suzuki kingquad 700 since new and that's insured with the NFU for £480. That's ag registered but as social domestic and pleasure somehow? So no restrictions on how far you can go from the yard and also anyone with a uk licence can take it on the road with my permission.

My wife recently bought a "g wiz" which is classed as a "heavy quadricycle". Bought it for £310 in eBay. We were baffled by insurance quotes up to £18K! Cheapest we found was £420 with Admiral in the end. This is for an electric "quad" with a top speed of just over 40mph (faster if you drop it from a helicopter) cannot go further than 20m and is honestly the ugliest vehicle I've ever seen.

Though to be honest its quite giggle-inducing to drive and my daughters can both drive it (it helps that we live quite remote as they're just 6...)

Just resurrecting this old thread as I am currently having quad bike insurance woes. I have recently bought a quad and I'm not having much luck getting sensible quotes.

The NFU wont touch me - in fact they sent a rather rude email to me about not insuring anything for 'forestry' purposes, despite the fact they have always insured my trucks/trailers and at one time, small tractor, all for forestry purposes!

Which insurers are people using at the moment? I've been through this thread and will be contacting all insurers mentioned, but how are people getting £200 quotes (adjusted from 2014)? Do you not declare the intended purpose/use as tree work or similar?

I appreciate the need to be transparent with insurers, but it makes me wonder if I am using a term when I say, "forestry", that they are not particularly happy with...
