I just think there are less cruel ways to deal with problem animals. Better constructed pens and fences for 'prey' animals etc, better land management. Obviously im aware the gun people on here will disagree, because its probably one of their hobbies and thats their thing. But I wouldn't shoot an animal for the same reason I wouldn't shoot a human. There's bloody loads of problem humans too haha.

The big cat in the uk thing, wasnt there a massive exotic pet trade in the past and when keeping them became illegal, people released them?

We have seen foxes climbing over 6 foot fences before and if there not climbing over there digging under the fence. I don't think you realise how much work is involved in trying to keep a fox out. It is much easier to control the numbers than it is to have a fox free area.

And with regards to strong pens on concrete floors, why would you want to cage any animal, most people have animals to allow them to be free range and give them a good quality of life.

Mr F you are guilty of humanising the problem. There is absolutely nothing cruel about shooting or hunting an animal that is killing your livestock or poultry. The profit margins in keeping stock are small and it would be completely impractical to build the sort of enclosures you talk about. Its all very well having the views you have but I guarantee that if you were to go down to see your poultry or new lambs and found them mutilated or dead, then you might change your mind and want the problem dealt with terminally!! Cdo out.
