I know an event organiser that uses a Merc Vito because he said it has the highest towing capacity of any van that size. Don't know if he was right but that was the reason he said he choose that van, and I know he tows heavy box trailers full of cables, lights etc. so I'm sure he is likely to have checked.

Vito is an overpriced bucket of rust, in my opinion anyways...

Vito is 1500/2000kg towing weight depending on spec.

Sprinters are all 2800 I think?

Vito & Sprinter share same engine/box. They both weigh in around 2ton empty, depending on model & spec. Vito about 100kg less - ish. In the 3/3.5ton weight class they both can tow 2ton. Apparently there's mods/upgrades that let the Vito tow 500kg more weight, according to mercedes. But the 5ton sprinters can tow more, when upgraded from standard.

Does anyone run either? Would be interested to know how easy they are to service/fix & relative economy's ie, parts & mpg? Thinking of camper/day van use, thanks

Thanks for the info. Yeah a maneuver or similar would be nice but I need a panel can to put my cs100 into.

Hardtop 110? should be plenty of room and may even stand upright plus benefit of 4x4 and 3.5t towing ability.

Couple of alloy ramps and small hand winch, job done!

We run iveco 5 ton vans downrated to 3.5 ton. They will tow 3.5 ton, but due to the downrating will only carry about 900kg.

Loads of power though!

Are they low geared on the motorway. Any more grief with the disco and will be looking round for one with a tacho in. Thanks for Carls no the other day he should be with us on site Tuesday with his Mog and crane.

We had a new shape 04 plate never seen so much rust on a 5 year old van. 150 hp was a nippy but had to get the miles on to beat the rust. 200k in 5 years. Fell to bits at 100k rebuilt under warranty then did another 100k no probs.
