[QUO TE=Jonny Burch;1076699]Cheers for the post Rob. Did you just use an airline for blasting out the crud?

I used a combo of hot water and some flash degreaser with an airline. Had no other degreaser to hand. Still did a good job though.

Used lithium hi temp grease on all the moving parts

Caution, always wear protection when using an airline.

QUOTE]

Do you recommend Durex for PPE when using airlines:lol:

The things you Pros do in your workshops:001_tongue::lol:

For the slightly dim :001_rolleyes: - a pair of safety glasses is under a fiver and find myself wearing them around 60% of the time in the workshop - they are good for cleaning carbs with carb cleaner and doing any drilling or work with springs.

Eyesight is precious - you know it makes sense!

Not just the dim, the "Oh it's just two seconds with the grinder - i'll just squint instead"

It's not the almost painless spark going in your eye that hurts - it's when it has melted into the eyeball and started rusting and you go to A&E to have the dye poured in so they can dig it out - that's the bit you really remember, then start wearing safety glasses.:blushing:

Regards,

Steve.

never had an issue with grindings. i tend to use safety glasses now and again. using a grinder i do. been caught out with fuel lines before. now that stings.

but looking at what you do in a workshop im suprised you are not made to wear them from the minute you walk in the door.

now if anyone wants pain i would reccomend arc eye..... now there is some serious pain.

Stripped my 66 tonight and now works like a dream! We won't talk about the shoelace that snapped in the cylinder though......

I left the clutch on and just did a general clean around it. Took the brake band off and poked around with a little screwdriver to loosen big bits. Airline and degreaser did enough of a job. Didn't fancy pulling the chain brake spring off as they are a pita to put back on!

Will be getting a bench top degreaser and doing all my saws
