I twisted awkwardly last wednesday and gave my sciatica a right good (bad) twang. Was barely mobile for a few days. Up n about now albeit painfully and every movement has to be slow n careful........This aint a 'gimme sympathy for me poorly back' thread. I was just wondering who else gets the occasional bout of chronic sciatica and what alterative methods do you use to relieve it. :001_smile:

I was diagnosed with it yrs ago and 10 yrs later they finally found out what was wrong with me.

Sadly worse than sciatica but beware many folk get told they have sciatica just as it's a general symptom.

If it continues try to get them to test it further.

Certainly wish I had done as would not be as advanced if proper treatment had started 10 yrs ago.

Have a slipped disc and get sciatica occasionally.

Two things help me.

One is core strength just through work. Get bad when having a holiday.

Second is a simple exercise given to me by a physio. She said there was not much that could be done about the disk that presses on the nerve but gave me an exercise that stretches the nerve so when the disk presses on it there is much less pain.
