Spoke to a friend of mine earlier and asked how he gets his saws so clean.. He replied, I strip the covers off them spray them in engine degreaser and then pressure wash them! Before I do the same I'd like a few opinions. Thanks

They do look mint!

Brush off the loose stuff with 25mm brush and lightly scrape off large deposits with the bar-cleaning-thingy. Then spray carb cleaner onto rag and wipe over pre-brushed areas.

Now and then, the covers get a wipe over with 'Armor All Original'. Not quite as good as '303 Aerospace' but it doesn't smell of old socks and is 30% of the price. Nice and shiny, plus helps to prevent heavy deposits building up.

Did a little experiment this morning.

Sprayed the 880 in a heavy duty traffic film remover (neat)

Sprayed the 362 in Jizer

left 5 minutes and pressure washed off.

The best overall result was the traffic film remover as it cleaned the organic stains off very well and did a pretty good job on the oil around the pump and brake area.

The Jizer did a brilliant job on the oil, but made no impression on the organic staining of the handles and body.
