There's a fair bit of ignorance in that debate, but some intelligent comments too. The people on that forum do themselves a bit of credit with some well mannered comments.

The last comment by Kimcafe is pretty sensible.

We dismantled an oak over a barn at a mates property a couple of years ago.

The local farmer was gobsmacked, simply because he didn't know anything about modern techniques.

I'm sure Ty, NFG and Normandy have seen it all before.

My thoughts are that a quote of safely dismantling the trees with no clearup whatsoever could save these people a few euros.

The local 'woodman' would then pay them to extract the carnage. Sorry, erm, timber.

You should have read it before it had 5 pages edited from it, some really abusive comments on it!

There certainly was a lot of froth last night on that thread.

When you drive around here, you notice quickly the number of massacred trees done by farmers, the public and other less well informed/trained landscapers.

I hope the OP gets things sorted, I see he has not made any more replies to his thread, probably put off by the unpleasant and now removed comments.

Hi,

The French would just put a hawser round the largest pillar and give it a tug with the tractor!

I must say, though we have been amazed by the friendliness of our neighbours & everyone in general, seem to be a bit curious/stand off ish at first but once you show willing - helping fix an ancient cultivator usually gains points & soon youre sat in their cave (male drinking area of dependence or cellar, fairly basic but you know what I mean) sampling a selection of home made alcohol.

We also give/swap vegetables, pheasants, rabbits, Eau de Vie, eggs anything else with them for what evers going.

Know what you you mean mate!

That farmer introduced us to a couple of bottles of very strong, very drinkable bottles of rouge in his kitchen after we did a deal to log all the cord that we rigged down on his side of the fence.

His original comment was that he didn't know anyone with a big enought 'tracteur' to pull the tree against the lean ( onto my mates cess tank and garden ).

Top bloke though!
