hi all, just wondered how much a chainsaw servicing should cost?

i've an 084 recently purchased from john p and he said it could do with a service.

i've been quoted £58 +parts (if needed)+vat

is that good?

It'll be about £35 per hour for labour and then you'll need airfilter, fuel filter and spark plug. So £58 sounds about right, if I was you I'd change those parts myself and save myself £35. Obviously they'll give it a once over but if the saw is running fine I would service it myself

I had a saw that would not start . I put a new plug in coz I had one but it made no difference so put it in the shop . When I got it back it had a new HT lead . He said I put a new plug in as well for you . I never said anything coz I like them . They have done me lots of favors in the past..........

I've fitted a few brand new spark plugs that have been faulty, misfired in my time, (although this hasn't happened very often). It's probably due to the parts department chucking things around rather than any manufacturing fault.

I'd have done the same :thumbup1:

I charge £70 inc vat, (£58 plus vat). This includes the plug, as I always fit a new plug, even if it appears to have been done recently.

So I would say your quote is about right.

But that is just a service, any repairs could cost you more.
